Smart Citizens & Public Health

By 2030, UN HABITAT, expects 67% of the world population to live in cities and 2 billion of people could be living in places that have not reached acceptable levels of quality of life (UN World Urbanization Prospect Report, 2011). In Africa, half of the population will live in cities. That rapid urbanization will have a direct impact on public health since waste disposal, access to clean water, sanitation among other issues are challenges cities should overcome in their quest to sustainability. The flow of people across various regions of the world, looking for better living standards, also raises concerns around epidemiological control & monitoring.

Cities in Africa can address those challenges by drafting a clear agenda for public health that is closely linked to the urbanization plans. MEDx.care and Camidus are partnering to help municipalities and governments to build Smart City Governance platforms for Public Health.

Our 3 steps approach coupled with a powerful technology blueprint provide an answer for public health issues in Africa.

Healthcare Planning Analytics: Using the power of Geographical Information Systems to plan healthcare centers deployment and coverage.

Emergency Central Stations: Rely on maps, navigation and telecommunications to improve response for emergency care.
